This book was a very fun and quick listen for a road trip. The mysterious plot element around
which the story centers is a pretty captivating thread that strings the otherwise fairly empty
story along. This element is the mystical beyond belief weight loss of the main character, fair
warning there never is any explanation for this plot point but it serves its purpose as a point
of interest to keep the story engaging. The main story actually revolves around a lonely guy who
just wants to make one troubled relationship right in the last days of his life. It's a charming
story of people trying to find peace with each other in spite of prejudice and cynicism. This
story is really great for it's characters only and that's perfectly enough.
This is not a review for the tacked on story at the end of this version of the audiobook, which
was stupid and I hated it. It wasn't really that bad but I'd definitely give it no more than 1
star.
The narrator of this audio book was fantastic.
