I got up around 9:15 and spent about 30 minutes figuring out how being a person worked. Once I was pretty sure I had the hang of it Dad and I went to The Diner for breakfast
(the bartender at Boozies had recommended it). Dad and I each got a mimosa flight (they were BOGO) and a skillet breakfast. It was good eating and a nice atmosphere. We braved
the heat again for a meandering walk back to the hotel, talking a few detours to check out some old buildings. It's amazing how old the buildings in Davenport are. Looking out
of our 8th floor window, you just about feel like you're living in 1921, not 2021.
Dad had a meeting at noon so I went to a local bookstore called The Source. It was a phenomenal bookstore where
I could have bought several great old editions of books I love our anticipate loving. I managed to restrain myself
and returned to the hotel to read a book I already owned. At 3pm we went down to the bowling alley martini bar in
the basement of the hotel. They opened an hour early for our tour group. We bowled for two hours. I was doing so
poorly and was worried I would go two hours without making a strike. In the last 5 minutes of our reservation I
finally bowled a strike!
This time we took the bus to the game, instead of walking. The first night at Modern Woodmen no one checked my bag
so I figured I could throw a couple beers and a pack of red vines in my bag. They did check my bag after all but
she only found one of my beers and let me keep the licorice! The game wasn't too great but we played the cup game to
stay entertained. Apparently Deb for a drink at the Bandits Lounge and asked for a lime but the bartender informed
her that they don't serve limes. She was confused because she had gotten a lime in her drink the night before. She
asks the bartender from the night before and he tells her that he brings in his own limes because the owner won't
give them limes, even though customers are always asking for them. Well, Deb talks to the owner and tells him he
really need to get some limes for his bar, and that one of his employees is going above and beyond for the
customers. The owner was apparently a big ass about it, being totally rude to Deb, and eventually landing on the
excuse that there's a lime shortage in Iowa. In the 7th inning the stadium was cleared out for a fire alarm.
Apparently it was a false alarm and the game resumed, but we had already taken the bus back to the hotel. My
theory is that Deb pulled the alarm to screw over the owner.
Dad went to bed. Joel and I went to Analog arcade bar, two blocks from our hotel. It was a really cool joint, with
a few great machines, all in good condition. They had two Taito Ice Cold Beer machines that worked really well. We
played 4 player Pac Man VS against a couple that was on a date. The guy kept giving little smooches to the lady
that seemed a little awkward. The guy went to grab drinks and the lady informed us it was a first date and it
wasn't going well. Yikes! The coolest thing I saw was this Pong table machine where the paddles and ball were
physical blocks. There must have been a printer arm or something under the table with a magnet that moved the
ball. It was so unique. There was also a table game that was sort of like air hockey but it was called speedball
and it was one of the shittiest games I've ever played. The arcade closed early so Joel and I went to a bar called
The Office. Analog, Boozies and the Office are all in a row on the same block. We met a nice lady named Leela and
played darts with her. I went back to the room to sleep and I just have sleep walked, because the next day my dad
told me that one of my shirts was in the toilet.
