It's hot as hell, but at least there's beer!

July 31st, 2021

This morning I woke up to Dad playing Puff the Magic Dragon on his phone with full volume. I laid in bed and read for a while before we started wandering aimlessly through Union Depot. It was drizzling and the air felt cool for the first time in this trip. We bumped into Casey and Jim and joined them in their plans to visit Schlafly brewing and the Scott Joplin house. By the time we got over there the rain had let up and it started to get hot again. The Scott Joplin house ended up being closed temporarily so we went straight to the brewery. Their Dry Hopped Pale Ale was very, very good. I also had a very competent Oatmeal Stout, some really dense beer bread with bleu cream cheese and jelly, and we shared a plate of poutine. We walked back to the hotel, I was able to catch up on my reading on the walk a bit too. We went back to the room to hang out a bit. I read while Dad napped, eventually I feel asleep too.

We got downstairs an hour before happy hour started so we could be first in line since happy hour starts at 5:30 and today's game was at 6:15. We quickly downed our drinks (I got all three this time) and got to the game in the bottom of the first. I don't know how it happened but we were already leading by two and the final score was 8-1 Twins. Great game.

The only picture I took today, aboard the Maggie's Shuttle

After the game we caught the Maggie's shuttle back to Maggie's, which is the Irish bar next to our hotel. We went to the Italian joint in our hotel building for snacks and drinks.
