We left the hotel at about 10:30am to get some BBQ at Pappy's. Rated best ribs in the US by Food Network. It was a
hot ass walk, but so worth it for some good ribs and brisket. We went back to Schlafley Brewing on the way to the
1:15 game. This time I got a SMASH with eclipse hops, which I put in the class of armpit hops. It was a solid beer.
We got to the game in the bottom of the first. Good game but hot as hell again. Twins did really poorly. After the
game I took a shower. Dad and I went down to the lobby for our complementary drinks. We drank them quick and headed
to Up/Down.
Up/Down St. Louis is great with a couple caveats, those being: Only cheese or pepperoni for slices (though they do
have more varieties of whole pizzas than the other Up/Downs) and some of the machines were poorly maintained. One
big bonus they have over other Up/Downs is that their water cups aren't simply plastic cups, they're the iconic
jazz cup! Between rounds of gaming I went out to the patio and had a slice of cheese pizza, with a jazz cup, and
watched Good Burger. That's living the good life right there. I broke my best on Taito's Ice Cold Beer by making
it to hole 8! My previous best was 6. Dad got down on Batman pinball (Adam West era) for a few hours, he did
really well. Eventually he was ready to leave but I stuck around til close, which was only midnight. The had a
few really cool machines that I had either never seen in person or never even heard of. Ice Climbers, Snow Bros,
Food Fight (a new favorite of mine), Mappy, Peter Pack-Rat and a few others that didn't stand out as much. I got
two six-pack-and-a-pound deals Dad helped her through some of the beers and I gave one to a guy that was really
good at DDR. They let me take the rest to go, and they fit in the game packs!
I grabbed a Lyft back to the hotel. The driver was nice and was venting about how the media portrays St. Louis
as some wretched hive of scum and villainy. He said they've been really over policing, and the policing just
keeps getting worse. Apparently there have been two police chases this year that ended in crashes that killed
and injured people. I told him about Darnella Frazier's uncle being killed in a police chase. He told me that
the previous week he was driving a lady and her two year old daughter when a police car zipped around them very
dangerously. He called to file a complaint but it was the Ferguson Police Department, so that complaint is going
straight in the trash.
